Solar Dock

The SolarDock project was born out of the need for dock lighting on our new (in 2014) dock. The original idea was to run 110v from the house to the dock, this didn't feel like a good idea, what with the proximity of the lake and everything being in the weather.

With the advent of LED lighting, it becomes much easier to run everything with low (12v) voltage. This is a much safer voltage, and is substantially easier to source. The concept grew into an idea that the system could be battery powered from a 12v lead acid storage battery, that is recharged during the day from a solar panel on the dock roof. Hence the name 'SolarDock'

The pages attached describe the design process, implementation and finally the install of the overall system.
